Dean Lucker grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Dean credits his ability in mechanical movements to genetics. His father owns a tool and die company and his great grandfather attempted to build a perpetual motion machine in his garage!
Dean's mechanical sculptures are original works, carved from wood and resin and driven by electrical motors. Each piece has several movements which may include blooming flowers, spinning fortune wheels and automated figures. Lucker also collaborates with Ann Wood on mixed media mechanical pictures and dexterity games.
