Shannyn Joy Potter received her B.F.A. from College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, MN with a focus on drawing. Her interest turned to wood sculpture in the mid 90's where it is still held today. The work consists of abstract wall reliefs which are primarily created through the process of subtraction after several pieces of wood are assembled as one. Her pieces range in size from two to eight feet and seem to be growing. Despite the size, her work retains a sensual, minimal aesthetic.
