Officially consecrated in Paris in 1924 with the publication of the Manifesto of Surrealism by the poet and critic Andre’ Breton, Surrealism became an international intellectual and political movement. Surrealist artists sought to explore the realm of the unconscious and dreams through their work, creating bizarre, dreamlike images that defied logical interpretation. Gallery 427 celebrates the One Hundred year anniversary with a group of artists who, while paying homage to the masters of the past, also put their own spin on where surrealism can take you in the present and the future.
