James Nutt is a Twin Cities artist, architect, and instructor in the NE Minneapolis Arts District. He shares studio space in the  Northrup King Building and participates in open studios, Art-A-Whirl, commissions, and art demonstrations.

James draws and paints constantly and carries a small kit everywhere focusing on capturing the story and energy of places and ordinary things. His goal is to capture energy and depth through deliberate proportion and harmony.  His work covers a wide range from abstract to illustration but always with an emphasis on relationships and telling the story. James actively shares his art and process on Instagram and Facebook @NuttDraws "I love what can be done with an energetic line, an eye on proportions, and just 3 primaries to mix from. These constraints allow me concentrate on narrative relationships and help squeeze art into the rare still places in the day." James Nutt
