Calvin deRuyter

Calvin deRuyter is a painter whose primary medium of choice is watercolor. Nontraditional in his approach to the medium, he achieves his often vibrant colors by doing all of the mixing of his watercolors on the surface he is working on--whether it be paper, canvas, or canvas board--and shuns the use of a palette to mix his pigments. Although he paints many different subjects, he is best known for his impressionistic landscapes reminiscent of the midwest.
