Angela Kallsen is a visual artist working primarily in oil and mixed media including charcoal, pencil, and acrylic. In her work, soft and bold colors meet around thick paint and sketchy outlines. Her paintings are visual metaphors of birth, growth, death, and renewal using an array of natural subjects. In this biophilic storytelling, grapevines and birds often take center stage. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, she has been exhibited in many area venues including the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition, the Nash Gallery, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
