Richard Simonsen creates abstract contemporary assemblages and collages that are part of the mixed media category. These densely textured works have a sculptural depth that combines found metals, hardware, wood and other discarded materials intermixed with layers of acrylic paints.

These compositions offer a certain stillness in the various layers of materials that seem to represent suspended time. The quiet nature of these works enhance the meditative qualities that draw the viewer beyond the visual surfaces, becoming an end in itself.
