Like haiku, Kristine’s paintings evoke the essence of a particular moment — with images instead of words. All of Kristine’s senses come into play. Sounds, textures, tastes, smells and colors are translated into visual images using rhythm, pattern, color and light. Kristine loves painting forms in nature. She’s drawn to the interplay of light and shadow, and to textural effects of layering and lifting the paint, and scrubbing the paper. Working from life, photographs and sketches, she develops paintings by glazing with transparent pigments. While her work seems realistic, she uses design and composition to emphasize the abstract nature of her subjects.
Kristine’s watercolors have appeared in juried exhibitions throughout the United States and have been honored with numerous awards. She received formal invitation to join Watercolor USA Honor Society in 2012.Studio Number: 393
