Eric’s work might be characterized by pattern, repetition and layering of brush strokes and object abstractions on canvas.
At the root of his work is an expression of line quality, mark and stroke of the brush. Eric considers his work a spiritual practice. He strives to create a brush stroke that is “alive” in much the same way the Zen calligrapher creates a line that is “alive” by focusing the mind. He doesn’t create pictures of things per se. It is as though his work belongs to a greater whole.
